Guilty plea in connection with bribery case of ex-Soboba leader

A business owner pleaded guilty in connection with the bribery case against Robert Salgado, the former chairman of the
Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians of California.
Salgado pleaded guilty in October 2010 to accepting bribes and concealing his income. He took money from vendors that wanted to do business with the tribe.
One of those vendors, Abbas Shilleh, admitted that he paid Salgado $50,000 in order to land a contract for valet parking at the tribe's casino. Shilleh's attorney claimed the payment was meant as an advance for the contract.
Salgado is due to be sentenced on March 21. Shileh will be sentenced in June.
